We all enjoyed estimating and weighing the mass of potatoes today. We are currently researching the topic of Hunger and finding out about the Irish Famine so what better food to explore with than potatoes. We all estimated and then found the actual weight of the potatoes. We used standard and non standard ways to calculate their mass with balance scales and kitchen scales. Our estimates were ‘weigh’ off on the lower value and we were a bit surprised how heavy the potatoes were compared to the gram and kilogram weights we used. What next to do with the potatoes and our findings? Suggestions are all welcome!!
